Congress candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha Gurjeet Singh Aujla suggested that funds of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) must strictly be spent upon social cause and propagation of Sikhism. He said that if he gets to represent Amritsar in parliament then he will surely bring up this issue in parliament and will get some law framed to enable the formation of state/central agency solely responsible to monitor the incoming and out going funds of SGPC. Aujla said that it is a well known fact that certain political groups unethically use or divert SGPC funds on their personal projects and plunder Guru's treasure.
He said that inspite of 10 SGPC secretaries, Badals created a new post for chief secretary to adjust their favourite. The audit of SGPC is also given to Kohli associates; a personal favourite of Badals who covers up all the nefarious activities carried out by Badal and company. Aujla further said that Badals have also captured lands which were dedicated for Sikh institutes that include Shri Guru Ramdas Institute of Medical Sciences, Valla, Miri Piri Academy. Aujla said that this is just a minor part of the long list therefore it gets mandatory for the Sikhs to intervene and save this institute from the clutches of Badals.
